Here at Kreative Cutters, John and I have put together an amazing raffle for a sweet boy named Hensen. 💛 Hensen is 5 years old and is battling a rare aggressive brain cancer. Please read his story below. His father is one of our customers at Man Made Cookie Cakes and what an incredible father he has. He quit his job to stay at home to help his wife take care of their son and started baking from home. We would love for you to join us in this raffle to help their family as Hensen is currently in the hospital again. Every dollar helps. All proceeds from this raffle go to the family. We thank you very much.
About Hensen by his father:
Hensen, is 5 and the youngest of our 3 children. We have 2 older girls. He was diagnosed with Choroid Plexus Carcinoma in Dec. 2023, but was sick 3 months before we found the cancer. We originally thought it was his stomach because it presented that way instead of headaches. He had his first emergency brain surgery on 12/12/23. Dr. Savage was only able to get one tumor (the biggest) but had to stop due to him bleeding too much. He also went deaf after that surgery. He got an infection in January 2024 that resulted in a craniotomy and he has been missing that part of his skull since. Then in February 2024 he needed to have a shunt placed. He endured 11 months of chemo that only stabilized his cancer. We only saw reduction 2 times but it was only 1-2 millimeters. He had stem cell harvest and transplant in Nashville from 8/1/24-11/12/24. That zapped him and he hasn't been the same since. 1/6/25-2/17/25 he had 30 rounds of proton radiation. That did nothing for him. He suffered more side effects than anything. His cancer remained stable and was told once that they believed those tumors were dead but still hanging out. In August of 2025 his MRI showed a new spot that was quite large and the old tumors had also started growing again. In October, it showed more progression. We then decided to try immunotherapy and he began that in November 2025. And oral chemo began earlier this year. In January of this year, his shunt failed and had to have it revised. That only seemed to help for a short time. That one failed, and another shunt revision took place 2 weeks later. Since then he's had metabolic acidosis, pneumocystis pneumonia, and another shunt revision. He has been hospitalized every month this year, including the whole month of April. We are going on 6 weeks hospitalized this time around. I had to quit my full time job to be able to help care for Hensen. In August of 2025, I opened my at home cookie cake business to help support our family and I do cake pops on the side. Hensen is the sweetest boy when he feels good! And he's adored by his sisters and our family, and everyone that meets him!
